I have created a resource that will help your students prepare to make financial decisions on their own. Students will begin by learning how to evaluate if a product is worth purchasing, and how they can identify a product’s value. Then students will answer discussion questions regarding their own personal beliefs around finances. They will also do a short reading and answer questions about how advertisements can impact individuals purchasing decisions. Students will then have to consider how different external factors may impacts an individuals budget. Students will also get the opportunity to analyze a budget and find areas that they can cut spending and save more. They will also be provided situational questions where they can identify if an individual can afford to make purchases based on their earnings, spending, and savings. I have included an anchor chart that will help students identify reliable and non-reliable sources of information. Students will then complete an activity where they identify reliable and non-reliable sources and justify their thinking. To conclude this independent work packet students will complete would you rather opinion based financial decision making questions. This resource would be a great addition to your financial literacy unit. I have included an answer key for all the worksheets that are not opinion based so that you can save time marking.
