I have created a resource that will help you start your financial literacy unit! The independent workbook starts by teaching students about the difference between wants and needs, and gives students the opportunity to identify their own wants and needs. Then students will read about budgeting, why it is important when to start. Students will then look at different expenses, and identify which ones would be a want and a need within their budget. Students will also create their own budgets, and identify how much they would spend within a month. Once students have complete that they will reflect on the budgeting process by completing the reflection questions. After that students will be given a word bank, and will match the terms to their definitions. This work packet is a great starting point for your students.

Included:

  • Wants vs. needs explained
  • Wants vs. Needs discussion questions
  • Guess the price activity
  • Intro to budgeting reading
  • Wants vs. Needs budgeting identification page
  • Intro to budget making
  • Sample budget
  • Budget reflection
  • Defining key terms with word bank activity (with answer key)

I have put lots of time into creating this resource so that you can save time planning! I hope you and your students enjoy!
